Data Architect - London
The Royal Mail Group (RMG) is well underway with one of the largest transformation programmes in corporate history. The future-state vision is clearly set out and a series of major and well-funded programmes of change are about to be launched. This role provides an opportunity to play a significant part in the move to privatisation.

Working closely with the Enterprise Reporting team, the focus of the Information Architect role is the production of standards and policies, working with outsource partners and providing expert advices on programmes.
Having worked ideally within a large organisation, you will have an understanding of the politics and processes involved, and the ability to communicate at a senior level. Persistency and a good sense of humour are key to this role, in addition to excellent presentation skills.
You will be a team player, with an appreciation of ‘making things happen’ and the ability to drive change by working with stakeholders at all levels. This is an opportunity to work with new technology and legacy systems, through the challenge of a large organisation undergoing privatisation and major transformation.
Key Accountabilities
- Identifying key data requirements of the business strategy and core processes; translating key business drivers and goals into appropriate data and information architecture.
- Input to data architecture and mapping key requirements onto theEnterprisesystems architecture, identifying the data that will be mastered by each system.
- Develop a data strategy that defines the migration plan for existing & proposed systems towards the data architecture and aligns with the Enterprise systems strategy.
- Input into interoperability of systems at a data level.
- Influencing the Business Partners to deploy the data architecture and strategy through their projects and business engagement; provide support & direction to the project and programme architecture delivery teams.
- Input into developing & deploying related data frameworks, policies & standards across Royal Mail Group, relating to both structured & unstructured data.
- Ensure compliance within the data & information architectural framework & related policies.
- Understand the methodologies required to deliver an effective data & information architecture approach across RMG.
- Provide input to data & information architectural assurance, sign off & audit, and to related technological innovation and emerging technology awareness.
Skills and experience:
- Expert knowledge of Data/Information Architecture.
- Proven ability to work at a strategic level on business & technology issues and opportunities.
- Likely to be educated to degree level, in any discipline.
- Effective interpersonal, influencing and engagement skills.
- Significant experience in data/information architecture.
- Ability to exploit the capital of data/information.
