Resourcing Manager / Workforce Planner - Croydon

Network Operations plans, operates and maintains the railway day-to-day. Our business units – ‘routes’ – work closely with our customers, and are accountable for improving customer service, safety, and performance, as well as providing a value for money railway.


Human Resources (HR) provides support on all people-related issues for Network Rail. We’re responsible for creating an environment that attracts and engages high-performing individuals to deliver engineering and operational excellence forBritain’s railway. Our approach is a pragmatic one, challenging where appropriate and professional in all areas of delivery.


To manage a team of Operations Support Clerks and Roster clerks to provide a quality office support service to the Area / Route General Manager and that cost effective use is made of resources and contract arrangements in accordance with company procedures.


Key Accountabilities

 

  • Manage the compilation and co-ordination of cost effective and safe rosters, providing area managers with staff attendance information,   management of excess hours infringements and absence records of all area staff.
  • Oversee accurate payroll input as appropriate.
  • Manage support service contracts and conduct system checks to identify potential for cost reduction and adoption of best practice.
  • Monitor local administrative systems ensuring compliance with Network Rail procedures, including utility costs, maintenance of property, portable electric equipment, consumption of office supplies and cleaning contractors performance.
  • Collate and provide relevant audit documentation as necessary.
  • Provide administrative support for local collective bargaining procedures and staff discipline and grievance issues, acting as management side secretary and monitoring agreed actions to support implementation.

 

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

 

Essential

  • Experience of managing people
  • Understanding of Network Rail people management policies and procedures
  • IT Literate
  • 6 sigma yellow belt status

 

Desirable


  • Knowledge of rostering principles
